The Mukuru Art Boyz documentary short premeired at 1:30pm PST on April 7, 2018 at the Hollywood Chinese Theatre. Yoga of Devotion founder, Angela R. Pashayan, introduced the film as "A dramatic look into the lives of 5 extraordinary artists living in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya". BRAVO and THANK YOU to all who helped on this film, including John Ombasa (Diverse Generation Nonprofit), Dragos Sabadac (Cinematographer), Leah Muthoni (Production Assistant), and others in the Nairobi and Mukuru Communities.
From here we will continue to submit the film to other festivals, which will require submission fees from $55-$150 per entry. Currently the Hampton International
Film Festival is reviewing us for possible screening in October!
Festivals also require expenses related to converting the film into specific formats they need for screening, plus travel expenses. My ultimate goal is to afford travel for the Mukuru Art Boyz to attend a screening. Please donate and help me make this happen!

Support 'Ras' in his new business.
Ras continues to sell his artwork online at www.theartboyz.com
With his earnings he has decided to become a Landlord, buying 8 small shelters to rent out to poor families. He hopes to earn $240/month from the rentals alltogether, providing him with sustainable income. His ultimate vision is to buy land where he can live and open his own rooftop gallery for tourists on Safari. Ras is currently finishing High School with the support of NANCY & JOHN KRITSER of Amarillo, Texas.
Angela is heading to Washington DC.

After 10yrs of working on poverty reduction and humanitarian efforts overseas, Angela is re-locating to share her expertise with government entities on how best to combat poverty. She will be attending Howard University for her PhD in Political Science, while continuing her work with the Art Boyz in Kenya. Her belief is that entrepreneurship builds confiedence, self worth, and sustainability for the very poor.

Art Boy Kevin, wants to start a cafe.
Kevin is not a painter like the other Art Boyz, he handcrafts bracelets. Yoga of Devotion has put him through Chef Training and he is now ready to open a small cafe where he can also sell his crafts. Containers are inexpensive to buy ($1000), we just need the land to set it up ($50-$100K). We will purchase an extra container for Kevin to live in, behind the cafe.
Kevin is also currently finishing his High School Diploma with the help of supporter CARLA OVANDO of San Francisco, California.
